Now you can listen to podcasts from Apple, Spotify on your Amazon Echo smart speaker

Earlier this year Apple and Amazon collaborated to bring Apple Music to Amazon's Echo range of smart speakers. And now, the two companies have collaborated once again to bring podcasts from Apple's Podcasts to Amazon's Echo range of smart speakers.Sometimes Echo Do not respond To our voice

In a blog post, Amazon announced that now Alexa users will be able to listen to more than 800,000 podcasts through Apple Podcasts on their Alexa-enabled devices. Not only that, if Alexa users like their Apple ID with their Amazon account in their Alexa apps they will also be able to pick up the podcasts from right where they left them on the Apple Podcasts app or their Alexa-enabled smart speakers. This in turn would allow them to hear a podcast that they were listening on their iPhone while communting on their smart speaker when they return home.

Prior to this Apple's Podcasts were available on its HomePods, which was also one of the selling points of the device. Now, Apple is slowly opening its platform to Amazon. In the past one year, Apple and Amazon have not partnered to bring Apple Music on Amazon's Echo device - a feature that is also available in India -- but they have also brought Apple TV app on Amazon's Fire TV device for their users globally.

Apart from Apple, Spotify, which is one of top rivals of the iPhone maker, has also introduced its podcasts on Amazon's Echo devices. Now, Spotify Free and Premium users will be able to ask Alexa to stream their favorite podcasts on Echo smart speakers. This comes in addition to the availability of the feature to stream music on Amazon's smart speakers.

Like Apple Podcasts, Spotify is also bringing the capability to pick up podcasts from the app on the Echo smart speakers where they left off. All users need to say is -- "Alexa, play the [podcast name] podcast."

Additionally, they can also request the latest episode, navigate to the previous or next episode, and even navigate by podcast time frame, Spotify wrote in the blog post.

However, this feature (for both Apple Podcasts and Spotify) is available to Alexa users in the US. So, if you are living outside the US, you might have to wait for sometime till the feature is introduced in their country.

Customers can now adjust the speed of Alexa’s speech.

Beginning today, customers in the U.S. can ask Alexa to speak slower or speak faster, enabling Alexa to adapt to a diverse set of customer needs. Whether customers ask Alexa for the weather, the latest news, a sports update, about an upcoming event on their calendar, for a definition, and more, they can now choose from seven speeds – Alexa's standard speaking rate, four faster speaking rates, and two slower speaking rates. Simply say "Alexa, speak slower," or "Alexa, speak faster" to adjust Alexa's speech to the preferred pace on any Alexa-enabled device. To reset Alexa's speaking rate, simply say, "Alexa, speak at your default rate." We’re thrilled to introduce this feature to help customers further personalize their interactions with Alexa, and adapt the experience to best fit their individual needs.   We care deeply about customer feedback and consider it an essential part of the development process. We always aim to design and build produ...
